The Womens Pilots’ Relay of flight is gaining momentum! Check out the latest activity on the facebook site here: https://www.facebook.com/WomenPilotsRelay
There is also an ABC report on the Nowra leg which can be found here: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-03-03/flying-relay-reaches-hmas-albatross/6278058
Here is snippet of the report that resonated with me:
“Lieutenant Moffat has been flying since she was 16-years-old after winning a scholarship.
“I remember my very, very first flight. It was a trial, introductory flight and I was so nervous because I didn’t really know what to expect and then all of sudden, you’re up and you’re away and you’re in the air. It was amazing,” she said.
Lieutenant Moffat said she hopes the inaugural Women Pilots Relay of Flight will inspire other young women to pursue a career in aviation.
“I really believe you can’t aspire to be something if you can’t see it. And I didn’t really have any role models sort of going through until I got to the fleet air arm. For me that was a real pivotal turning point where I could see somebody seeing what I wanted to do. So I’d like to, hopefully, if I can, be that person for someone else down the track.”
I’m sure she already is!
